🧳 Lost & Found in Japan

Lost something during your trip? Don't panic. Japan has one of the most efficient and honest lost-and-found systems in the world.

🚉 Lost Items on Trains or Stations

• Visit the station office where you got off.
• Go to the Lost & Found counter of the railway company (e.g. JR East, Tokyo Metro).
• Provide item description, train line, car number, and time of travel if possible.

✈️ Lost at Airports

• Contact the airport's Lost & Found desk directly (each terminal may have a separate desk).
• Check the airport's website — many have online claim forms.

🚔 Lost Elsewhere?

• Visit the nearest kōban (police box) or police station.
• Bring ID and prepare to fill out a form (in Japanese, though English help may be available).
• Items are usually held for up to 3 months.

📱 Helpful Phrases

"I lost my wallet." → 「財布をなくしました」 (Saifu o nakushimashita)

"Where is the lost and found?" → 「忘れ物センターはどこですか？」

In many cases, lost items are returned — don't give up!
